What a recovery!

Good morning!  I am feeling all chipper and bright because I got a PB at training this morning. We did our speed session and then had a 1km time trial, which I did in 4:37.  Yippee!  My previous best time had been 4:41 so I am stunned that I managed to pull that out of the bag, after Sunday and all.  I am going for a massage on Friday so I hope that will help all my sore bits.  Also, I am continuing to do my stretches twice a day but I think another session at the physio is on the cards.  I was thinking yesterday that perhaps I'd better start adding up all the $$ I am spending in my quest to get that big  old "gold" medal on 3 July.  Like... the socks for example, which are quite pricey.  Who would have thought there was so much technology in a pair of socks?  It will make losing one sock much more distressing, when I realise the missing sock is worth $15!  This morning I wore one of my new pairs - the Injini Performance Sock.  Hey, a "performance" sock!  Excellent!  That will explain my PB!  I have never worn toe socks before and they felt very cosy around my toes.  Putting them on at 4:50am was the hardest part. I ended up with a toe spare on the left foot...
It's getting cooler and darker in the mornings too, and that crisper morning air really helps to pull me along.  Time to pull on our Marathon School shirts.  I have ended up with a spare one in my car after training - too small for me though so I hope I can reunite it with its owner soon.
The other thing I just wanted to mention was that I have signed on to Everyday Hero to fundraise for The Leukemia Foundation.  I spent 9 months working as an RN in an oncology day clinic and I nursed alot of people with leukemia.  Their courage and positive attitudes really, really made an impact on me.  I have so much admiration for these patients and I want to support them as much as I can. I figure that if they can get through the @#$% they do during their treatment, then I can (& WILL) do this Marathon.  I know when I flag I always think of some of my favourite patients and that pushes me along a bit.  So, I am hoping that some of you will have enough faith in my ability to finish this Marathon that you might like to sponsor me?  It is all very official and "proper" and you will get a tax receipt etc.  There was a widget on the Everyday Hero page but I couldn't upload it to this blog so have created my own.  Anyway, take a peek and see what you think and THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
