So, it's DONE! I have signed up for the marathon via Team InTraining. After much consideration, I have elected to have "GiddyUp Jen" written on my race number. I figure that is what I want to hear people call out to me at the end, when I will feel I have no giddyup left. My friend Swellgal gave me the inspiration when she wrote that as her message to me after donating on my Everyday Hero fundraising page.
I seem to be in a perpetual state of fatigue lately and trying not to be crabby at home for my very patient and supportive Beloved. Monday night I took a beginner running group for Sean, as he was off to the footy and I couldn't really say "no" to him when he is taking three of my beginner groups when I go on holiday over Easter! We ran 6kms in the rain. Then Tuesday morning we did Yasso 800's x 10 with a 2 minute standing recovery (due to time constraints). I managed to do the ten at an average of 4min:15sec which APPARENTLY means I have a chance of finishing the marathon in about 4hrs 15mins. Let's just see shall we? However, as my coach Linda pointed out, why set myself up for a slower time when it is so much easier to run for a shorter period? Who wants to be out running for 4.5 hours when you could be back at the InTraining tent scoffing a sausage sizzle? Hmmm.... I hadn't thought about it that way. So the crux of it was that by 8am on Tuesday morning, I had clocked up about 44km of running! No wonder I am utterly shagged. I do not look fit and healthy like Bart Yasso (below)... Maybe more practice required?
